LX2162A SOM – Where Size Matters

SolidRun’s LX2162A System-on-Module is a high-performance and flexible platform intended to support dense and compact appliance designs at the network’s edge. Our ultra-compact SOM packs the power of an NXP LX2162A processor, boasting up to 16 Cortex A72 cores running at 2GHz and can be equipped with up to 32GB of DDR4. As with all SolidRun SOMs, the LX2162A SOM packs onboard memory, eMMC storage, and power management in a compact form factor.

At just 58mm x 48mm, this is the smallest 16-core SOM platform in the world.

Typical applications for the LX2162A SOM include 5G base stations and packet processing, high-performance CPEs, storage controller, network security, and data routing. NXP’s LX2162A SoC is manufactured using a 16nm FinFET production process that allows for a reduced thermal footprint and optimized power/performance numbers to allow fanless designs.

  • Ultra Compact Design

    LX2162A SOM is only 58 x 48mm, which is only 25% of the equivalent COM Express type 7 LX2160A to allow for the smallest and most compact product designs.

  • A 12-Lane Data Superhighway

    Boasting 12 SERDES lanes, this SOM supports up to four 25Gbit/s ethernet connections (up to 100GbE), up to eight PCIe Gen 3 connections, as well as several combinations of the two for incredible application flexibility.

  • Hard-Core Processing Power

    Packing 16 Arm(r) v8 Cortex A72 cores and supporting up to 32GB of DDR4, the mighty Layerscape LX2162A processor delivers server-grade data processing performance!

  • Tiny in Form, Huge in Potential

    An excellent foundation for software-defined network hardware and Smart NICs capable of accelerating network functions, the LX2162A SOM can power an array of network- and edge-appliance applications.
