The HummingBoard 8P Edge AI enables inference at the edge for a variety of use cases such as Smart Cameras and Surveillance, Industrial IoT, agriculture and retail. The advantages of local devices or edge computing devices rather than relying solely on centralized cloud-based processing are mainly: real-time processing, reduced Latency, bandwidth Savings and Privacy and Security. However, the edge deployment requires low power consumption and cost-effectiveness solutions.

The HummingBoard 8P Edge AI is compatible with the Basler daA3840-30mc (S-Mount) dart BCON for MIPI camera module. This camera utilizes the ON Semiconductor Premium 4K sensor, capable of providing 30 frames per second at an 8 MP resolution. It boasts advanced features including HDR mode, chromatic aberration correction, dewarping, flat-field correction, and a suite of image enhancement tools such as hue adjustment and sharpness enhancement. Additionally, an optional 7” HDMI display from Winstar can be purchased to complement the setup, offering HMI touch platform support.
