SolidRun and Peridio Take Vision AI from Prototype to Production Fleet

Avocado OS is now available on the HummingBoard RZ-V2N-AIoT and SolidSense AIoT V2N, giving developers a complete, production-ready path from evaluation hardware to deployed fleet.

Getting to a working prototype is only half the battle in physical AI. The harder problem is deploying, managing, and maintaining those systems at scale, and that infrastructure work is what has traditionally turned a successful proof of concept into a months-long engineering slog. We built our RZ/V2N-based platforms to solve the hardware side of that equation. Now, through our new collaboration with Peridio, we’re solving the software side too.

We’re pleased to announce that Avocado OS, Peridio’s production-grade Linux distribution purpose-built for Physical AI, is now available on SolidRun’s RZ/V2N-based platforms. Together, validated hardware and production-ready software form a tightly integrated foundation that lets development teams focus on their application, not the infrastructure needed to get it to market and keep it running.

The Hardware: Purpose-Built for Vision AI Workloads

At the heart of both platforms is our RZ/V2N SOM, powered by the Renesas RZ/V2N SoC. It combines a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor running at up to 1.8GHz with a dedicated DRP-AI3 neural accelerator delivering up to 15 TOPS of AI inference performance, an Arm Mali-G31 GPU, 4K H.264/H.265 video encode/decode, and up to 8GB of LPDDR4x memory – everything needed to run demanding vision AI workloads at the edge.

That compute is available in two form factors:

  • HummingBoard RZ/V2N AIoT: A developer single-board computer with dual Gigabit Ethernet, CAN-FD, RS232/RS485, MIPI-DSI display support, and an extended -40°C to 85°C operating range. Ideal for evaluation, prototyping, and integration into industrial enclosures.
  • SolidSense AIoT V2N: A self-contained, IP64-rated outdoor gateway with an integrated Sony IMX678 camera, IR illumination, and wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE. Designed for autonomous operation in remote, infrastructure-free environments on battery or solar power.

What Avocado OS Adds

Peridio’s Avocado OS closes the “infrastructure gap” between a working prototype and a deployed, managed fleet, delivered as an integrated, validated package rather than something teams have to assemble themselves. On SolidRun’s RZ/V2N platforms, Avocado OS provides:

  • Validated BSP for the RZ/V2N SOM, targeting both the HummingBoard RZ-V2N-AIoT and SolidSense AIoT V2N
  • Atomic OTA updates with automatic rollback for safe, reliable firmware delivery across fleets of any size
  • Secure boot and full-disk encryption for hardware-rooted device security
  • Fleet-wide CVE tracking and SBOM support, aligned with EU Cyber Resilience Act requirements
  • Streamlined provisioning workflows that dramatically reduce time from unboxing to production deployment

The result is a platform where what you build in the lab is genuinely ready to scale in the field, without rebuilding the operational infrastructure from scratch.

Built for Industrial and Edge Vision AI

The combined SolidRun + Avocado OS platform targets demanding real-world deployments, including:

  • Industrial Automation & Machine Vision: High-bandwidth AI inference with DRP-AI3 acceleration for inspection, quality control, and closed-loop control systems
  • Mobile Robotics (AMRs & AGVs): Edge vision AI for autonomous navigation and real-time perception in systems that can’t afford connectivity dependencies
  • Remote Sensing & Outdoor Monitoring: Fleet-managed deployments for wildlife monitoring, perimeter surveillance, smart agriculture, and environmental sensing, powered by the SolidSense AIoT V2N’s self-contained outdoor design
  • Smart Infrastructure & Predictive Maintenance: Always-on edge analytics with secure, OTA-managed firmware delivery in demanding industrial environments
