SolidRun and CiT Deploy New V2X Edge Platforms for Smart Mobility Infrastructure

This partnership integrates SolidRun’s embedded computing technology into CiT’s newly launchedCiT One OBU (Onboard Unit)andCiT One RSU (Roadside Unit), two modular and production-ready V2X platforms designed to support a wide range of connected vehicle and smart city applications. 

Proven Hardware for Real-Time V2X Communication

At the heart of both the CiT One OBU and RSU is SolidRun’s i.MX 8XLite SoM, an automotive-grade module optimized for edge processing in time-sensitive environments. The SoM includes: 

  • Arm Cortex-A35 cores for efficient multi-core processing 
  • Integrated automotive interfaces, including CAN-FD and automotive Ethernet 
  • Expansion headers and GPIOs for sensor and system integration 
  • Support for DSRC/802.11p V2X stacks and secure communications 

The i.MX 8XLite SoM is engineered for applications where deterministic behavior and reliable communication are critical, making it well-suited for roadside infrastructure, in-vehicle systems, and safety-critical V2X environments.

Scalable Infrastructure: CiT One RSU and OBU

The CiT One RSU is a ruggedized, pole-mountable roadside unit built to manage infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communications. It is ideal for smart intersections, transit signal prioritization, and data-driven traffic management. 

The CiT One OBU is designed for in-vehicle deployment and supports both vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. Its robust communication stack enables integration with public safety vehicles, fleet systems, autonomous vehicles, and public transit. 

Both platforms feature: 

  • Real-time edge processing for localized decision-making 
  • Multi-protocol communication, including DSRC (802.11p), LTE, GNSS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0 
  • Industrial-grade thermal and environmental tolerance 
  • Remote management and OTA update support 

These systems are purpose-built for municipal transportation departments, infrastructure contractors, and automotive OEMs deploying next-generation connected vehicle systems.
