IBX MicroSom eMMC

Description

The embedded card (eMMC) is still widely used in the industry as a primary means of integrated storage in portable devices. It provides a low-cost flash memory system with a built-in controller that can reside inside an phone or low-cost PC and appear to its host as a bootable device, in lieu of a more expensive form of solid-state storage, like the traditional solid-state drive.

Options

The eMMC is assembled on the MicroSom

The MicroSom's default is 8GB*. If you need a customized setup - we can offer eMMCs up to 128 GB - feel free to contact us.
*(First batch till mid November 2016 was shipped with 4gb emmc)

Please note that the N3710 - 8GB RAM configuration can not boot from eMMC. eMMC can only be used as secondary storage in that configuration.

Issues

If you run an operating system like Ubuntu or Debian CLI directly from the eMMC, some error messages showed up. This does not happen if you use the eMMC as a storage only. This is caused by some firmware bug of the Samsung 4GB eMMC Model. (first solidpc batch till mid november). Newer devices will be shipped with 8GB eMMC as minimum.
