SolidRun Unveils New i.MX 8M Plus Portfolio of Embedded Modules and Carrier Options

We’re thrilled to announce our new line of embedded i.MX 8M Plus-powered Computer on Module (CoM) solutions and feature-rich carrier boards. Combined, these powerful tools serve as building blocks for quickly prototyping new edge AI and ML solutions, as wells as bringing those designs to market faster.

Our new i.MX 8M Plus enhanced CoMs are available in quad- and dual-core configurations and maintain the same ultra-compact 47mm by 30mm footprint and pin layout as SolidRun’s other i.MX 8M CoM products. Maintaining this footprint makes it easy for developers to scale their processing capabilities up or down between our other i.MX 8M product families, including the i.MX 8M / i.MX 8M Mini/ i.MX 8M Nano. Pin compatibility and shared software resources provide a flexible and forward-thinking approach to creating future-proof products for high-performance and low power applications.

As with all of our i.MX CoMs, the new i.MX 8M Plus boards have all necessary subsystems and connectivity options integrated. They are a great fit for simple applications to those that require high-performance processing capabilities for AI and machine learning inference at the edge. Because they’re based on NXP’s new i.MX 8M Plus processor, our CoMs are equipped with a high-performance Cadence® Tensilica® HiFi 4 DSP that supports voice and natural language processing chores – great for building voice-enabled solutions, as well as an integrated neural processing unit for enhanced AI and machine learning capabilities at the edge.

We’ve also unveiled three exciting new carriers specifically designed to maximize the vast features and benefits embedded into its i.MX 8M Plus-based CoMs – the Hummingboard Mate, Hummingboard Pulse and Hummingboard Ripple. The new HummingBoard Mate, Pulse and Ripple carrier boards enable developers to pair the features of SolidRun’s i.MX 8M Plus CoMs with USB 3.0, gigabit ethernet, mikroBUS™, HDMI output, audio input and output, display output, camera input (Basler MIPI CSI-2 cameras), and much more. Combined, SolidRun’s i.MX 8M Plus CoMs and Hummingboard carriers provide product developers the tools needed to quickly prototype and bring to market consumer and industrial edge solutions that benefit from powerful neural network acceleration and intelligent computer vision. Our carriers are market-ready and can be utilized as-is for edge computing and industrial IoT applications. We can even create custom housings for you – making us the go-to source for hardware design, development and manufacturing.

The i.MX 8M CoMs start at a promotional price of $75, while kits containing a Hummingboard carrier and i.MX 8M CoM starts at a promotional price of $135. These prices will remain in effect until March 2021.
