Hi all, just got my CuBox this weekend, but I have no ethernet what so ever
After reading the forums, I haven't seem too many ethernet issues (which is good) so hoping someone knows how to fix this :-).

Background of what has been tried:
Out of the boxed powered on, Ubuntu by default installed no ethernet
Reinstalled "CuBox" using the installer, no ethernet
Tried the XBMC installer, couldn't access shares, i.e. no ethernet
Switched from the included 4GB to an 8GB card
Reinstalled "CuBox" using the installer, no ethernet
Reinstalled "CuBox" using the installer modified for XBMC packages, no ethernet
Tried the XBMC installer, again and couldn't access shares

***For each attempt:Tried 3 sets of Cat5 cables (all three known to be working before switching (to CuBox) and after switching (put back to where they were from)), also tried direct into router, and thru a powerline adapter

I'm in no means a Linux expert, but I've tried all teh things a LInux literate person would try (eth0 up/dwn, refresh, release, etc.)

Anyone have any ideas? Or at least ideas how to get more information so it can be debugged by people much smarter than I?

Hello,

I just received by CuBox in the mail today. The ethernet is not working. I checked the cable with another computer and the connection is fine.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Not working as "can't go to google" or not working as "even the LEDs on the switch do not shine" ?
First is likely to be solved with "apt-get --reinstall install dbus". Have you tried "sudo ip link set eth0 up ; sudo dhclient eth0" if that does anything?

I have seen this reported on Beagle board, raspberry pi, and cubox.
One suggestion, plug into another network.

For the XBMC image, i accessed the box via puTTy and changed teh box's date using the date command

example: sudo date 'newdatetimestring'

then I released and refreshed the IP
dhclient -r
dhclient

**For the Ubuntu image, I did the same thing but through the OS terminal

Like I said, that solved the ethernet issue, but I still can't see anyone of my network drives (one problem down one to go...I hope)

Tried "Gigolo" ?
That helped me accessing my NAS drives.
(Then, i dont have sound when playing video , but i guess that is another topic)

I'll try that tonight, can it be used with the XBMC image or will I have to use a full blown Ubuntu install?
Any tips or tricks or just get GTK and Gigolo on the box?
